What Do They Want? OUTRAGE! When Will They Get It? Every Day!

Grace Dent on l’affaire de Elton:

Online fury at D&G has snowballed. Lots of people who would never have bought D&G, hadn’t read the Panorama interview, didn’t particularly care one way or another about Elton John, and didn’t need IVF or a womb surrogacy, spent all of Sunday in a rage because someone, somewhere, said something they didn’t agree with.

I cannot “judge” people for this, having been swept away in boggle-eyed web rage more times than I care to admit. Still of late, as I watch Twitter storms brewing and the din of the echo-chamber grow deafening, I wonder “What do ‘the people’ actually want?”

It’s a fair question. Readers, over to you – what do the Legions of Perpetual Offence really want, if anything?

Or, as I personally suspect, are we just seeing the ‘green ink’ brigade expanded exponentially due to the rise of the Internet?

    They want to be heard.

They have no talents to speak of, nothing interesting happens in their lives and nobody really cares about them.

Internet outrage is the only way they can make a name for themselves

And they don’t seem to care what that name actually is…

Awww. Did those nasty Dolchy and Gabbler boys hurt poor Elty welty’s feelings, den?

Seriously? So two gay men expressed an opinion about surrogates, IVF and rich boys toys. This is news? WGS.
