Haven’t We Heard This Before?

A doctor says she is considering leaving the UK after the Brexit vote.

So..? A lot of slebs vowed to leave the US when Trump became President. I bet they didn’t.

“Since the result of the EU referendum I feel increasingly uncertain about my future here, and am considering returning to Germany,” said Dr Woolley, who is a partner at the Victoria Road Surgery.

“It is unsettling that in a country I have contributed to for 20 years and consider home I am now seen as a foreigner and have to prove that I deserve to live and work here.

“I feel supported by my patients, with even those who voted to leave telling me, ‘You can stay because you’re a doctor. We like you. We didn’t mean you.’

I wonder if they add (under their breath) “…but if that’s the way you feel, ‘Auf weidersein!'”..?

“But the reality is that the government does not appreciate what EU nationals like me have contributed to the UK and only sees us as bargaining chips.”

What do we need to ‘appreciate’, doc? We have enough people who behave like children when something goes against them already.

Slightly off topic but could not help noticing:
“A lot of slebs vowed to leave the US when Trump became President”

Ah, but after the national tragedy that has now overtaken the USA and which has shocked and alarmed the world in the tragic “envelopegate” they will now! How can the slebs possibly stay given the deep shame of the Oscar mystery?

But give the BBC credit as at first they mounted a near 24 hr coverage assault on the Oscars, but STILL no news of a full investigation by Newsnight or Ch.4 on the envelope mystery which is intriguing millions of viewers across five continents!

Questions. Were the envelopes fully sealed before the presentation? Was invisible ink a factor?
Did the switch happen in one of the loos – or rather should we say – in a transgender bathroom?
Should we abandon envelopes and announce it all on line (OOL could take a lead on this and get instant fame and recognition).

I think there must have been some sort of sleight of hand just at the point of the announcement, it was just so clever that not a single watching sleb noticed.

Maybe the FBI should be investigating, but then again, no, they may be behind it.
The big question for the slebs: Was Trump behind the switch, craftily manipulating behind the scenes in an attempt to confuse CNN or Huffy Post reporting?
(Did you know there were five mile long traffic jams in the Tashkent region due to texting motorists who demanded answers about the envelopes?)
My own view is that this has the Kremlin’s fingerprints all over it and once again Putin has triumphed at the expense of the USA in what must be a great strategic move.
Wasn’t Meryl Streep’s gown stunning and so modest when clearly so many other “ladies” present were clearly experiencing that oft recurring, ‘wardrobe malfunction’ problem?

I notice that the assembly was graced by the presence of the well know publicist a Mr Tony Blair who kept discreetly in the background (difficult that).
My sources tell me that his speeches, even short half-hour ones are discouraged at this event nowadays, as spiritually he already dwells in lu-lu land anyway.
Strangely nobody in the media or on stage at the Oscars mentioned that some sort of “scene” was bound to have occurred as a result of Brexit. Strange that, since every other major and minor world event has felt its influence every day since May said (and she repeated it) “Brexit means Brexit”.
Back to the envelopes. What’s the solution?
Trust the BBC to get the answers we are all desperate for when the only journalist with the stature and needed in depth knowledge of all world affairs, Evan Davies will be on the case, probing, investigating, grinning, and wriggling his way to the Truth.
    And now for other news……………………….

Has this doctor been providing a service from the goodness of his heart? I doubt it, he will have been paid like all employees. If he’s a foreigner, that’s all he can expect and all we are obliged to give him. If he leaves, that’s his choice, if he stays then providing he behaves himself and pays his taxes I doubt he’ll be bothered by anyone. As President Trump said recently, being allowed into the USA is a privilege not a right; that applies equally to the UK and all the uppity foreigners need to be regularly reminded of that fact.

Interesting that the EU’s much-vaunted ‘freedom of movement’ only works one way. For example, in France, any ‘government job’ (e.g. teacher) is considered a ‘civil service’ role, for which French nationality is mandatory. In Britain, all EU nationals are entitled to occupy job at all without taking on UK nationality.
Maybe we should have operated the French way for the last 40 years, solving the ‘victimised’ doctor’s problem before it started.

Same goes for open tendering – when was the last time you saw a French ‘government’ vehicle (police cars etc.) which was not of French manufacture ? Or an Italian one not from Fiat, or a German one not from BMW, Mercedes or VW ? But when did we last see our UK police forces only using locally-built and perfectly adequate Jaguars, Land Rovers, Toyotas, Hondas or Nissans ?
Yet the open tendering process is supposed to enable all suppliers to compete in all markets – funny how it only ever happens here.

Just more examples of the EU’s inherent corruption from which we may fervently hope that Brexit will finally deliver us.
