Might just be big enough to imprison all the MPs accused of retrospectively upsetting their staff.

That launch ramp would be great for skateboarding.

You can describe it in a number of ways but the most accurate is probably
    ‘The Target’.

A floating monument to the perpetual folly of politicians and who lack even a basic nous of what are the needs of an effective RN.

Unless the RN can provide the necessary support and escort surface ships and a sub or two, this baby will never leave UK waters and even in UK waters she is vulnerable and underpowered and aircraftless.

Other than that, it looks luverly a bit like the Ark Royal but a bit bigger.

A picture can speak a thousand words, I will use just three of them, “I feel sick”.

I live in Portsmouth and watched it come in. Impressive as it is, it’s sad to think that thanks to the lack of aircraft that can work off it, it will end up being a white elephant.
If only the government had been brave enough to go with a cat and trap carrier, we could have used any number of naval aircraft from other countries instead of putting all our eggs in one basket and just flying one very expesive make an model of plane from it’s decks. We could also seamlessly work with aircraft from our allies on joint ops. As it is, we’re limited to STOVL aircraft.

No Harriers? There is one Mitsubishi Zero and a few Corsairs still flying. Better than the carrier fighters currently available. Unless we’ve got top-secret aircraft that are so stealthy that no-one can see them.

Just read on “Zero Hedge” a article by Paul Craig Roberts about Russian Military might, its Hypersonic missile Zircon and the Value of Trump, very sobering.

Not so much plain sailing, as no-plane sailing.

    +1

Ah, but the Gorgon Brown (pork barrel Rosyth) made BAE agree it was upgradeable to cat&trap. Idiot didn’t specify a cost.

Anything can be upgraded to whatever at some cost, which may be stupidly high.

Fails: no cross deck-landing; two low islands (to go under forth bridges) – loss of deck-space & island height; not nuclear powered; no battle group to protect.

White elephant – scrapped invincible class could do same for less.
