Perhaps A ‘Pre-Sentence Report’ On The Court Would Be A Good Idea?

Judge Sarah Mallett said: “I will adjourn the case of Claire Neal for a pre-sentence report but a sentence of imprisonment is inevitable.

“The report will go to the length rather than the type of sentence.”

How exactly was this animal allowed to savage another child, again?

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “A destruction order was issued by the court to the owner of this dog following an earlier incident.

“Once this order was issued it was the responsibility of the owner to hand the dog over for destruction at the earliest opportunity.

“On this occasion it was for the court, not the police, to enforce that order when the owner did not comply.”

Seems like the court system should be right there in the dock alongside her. If only the parents of this attack could sue them for negligence…

Quite like the idea of the court system being in the dock. Would there be enough room?

My immediate reaction to this was to swear, which I rarely do.
The right thing to do is so bleeding obvious:

    Issue the order.

Immediately give the paper to a suitable court officer, properly equipped to enforce it even in the face of resistance.

    Immediately enforce the order.

‘it was the responsibility of the owner to hand the dog over…’

Who in their right mind would expect such an owner as in this case to act responsibly and promptly?

This is a clear case where a degrading public whipping is called for.

I’ve a Newfoundland. He’s as dangerous as a cushion. A little girl trotted up to him and, true to form, Mongo sat down and lifted his paw up slowly. I said to the little girl and her Mum – ‘he drools, but that’s as dangerous as he gets.’

Mongo drools over little girl who makes a big fuss of him. Mother then goes to take little girl’s hand and like a harpy, complains about the drool. Child cries, Mongo whines, I get an earful.

May the drool drool over her, Amen.
