Tom reminds us it’s also Shakespeare’s Day.

What Leg-iron said, with knobs on…

underdogs bite upwards: Calling England..

Happy St. George’s Day.

Don’t forget Shakespeare’s birthday too. If you can’t be proud of anything else, you can be proud England produced him. Like so much of our historical contribution (not least the language he shaped more any other man ever shaped a language) he belongs to the world now. But he was ours once.

I was surprised to see a lot of comment flying about this morning about the possibility that today wasn’t St George’s Day after all, as if it’s too close to Easter, it can be moved to May 2nd…

Certainly, no-one told all the people flying flags in my area!

And of course, it wouldn’t be an English holiday without someone on the left doing their best to change things, just because, would it?

Where I was today, there was no bunting, no recognition, it seemed, whatever. Real puzzle.

Thanks for the link. in my present circumstances, I have little time for blogging but can I take the opportunity to wish this new blog well? I hope my circumstances can improve so that I can make a contribution myself at some point. In the meantime, given the quality of the assembled team, I shall follow it with interest and enthusiasm.
