Meanwhile, the EU presses on regardless …

Well, here’s a possible logo, above, from Sue of Muffled Vociferation.  It’s also now one week since we’ve begun and here are some stats:

That’s those who come into the site, rather than take it as an RSS feed.  Most feedback has been positive although there has been the inevitable shifting of position of some and that’s only to be expected.  More contributors will be coming soon.

Meanwhile,  while you’re having a nice long weekend, the EU is getting under our guard again:

I have to say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the way this has taken off. Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to read, post, comment and argue

Does that logo look like an Adobe Reader ‘A’ or is it just me?

  3. May 2, 2011 at 6:30 pm

    Very nice!

I’m guessing that’s a Lamda (Greek L ) very ‘Go tell the Spartans’

    Actually I like it

Are the four stooges in the photo waiting on death row? If only. But then death comes to us all eventually. They might look as though they are eternal, but even they can’t legislate against time. And we English have all the time in the world to get rid of the dross that infests our country at present.

Yes they are smiling right now but what they don’t know is that their time is limited and their are others who are willing to do just about anything to get into their place.
They require protection wherever they go because they are a target from within their own organisation.
It won’t be long before they no longer have access to that protection and those they work for now will ensure they remain in the shackles that bind them.
There is a price to be paid for ‘POWER’, so continue smiling but watch your back your prodigy is there waiting to cut you off and step in to those rather large ‘CLOWN shoes’

      Namaste, phil;

My advice? Take away the (IMO) unsightly “ORPHANS OF LIBERTY” legend in the photo and it would look a lot better if you’re going to have the name banner at the top.

Sorry this ‘badge thing’ is lost on me. Considering the negativity that people attached to the name ‘The Forlorn Hope’ it’s rather bizarre to see people shooting for a logo which features chains that bind!

Let’s leave that up to people themselves. If they want to use any form of it, some are supplied above. If not, then no harm done.

I was just observing life and speaking out loud. Isn’t this what this site is supposed to be all about?

The symbols are from the Greek alphabet so don’t “belong” to anyone. Lots of critique and comments but no real useful ideas that I can work with.

    • May 2, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Sue, it fits well and thanks for doing it. As I said above, it’s up to people if they want to use it on their sites or not.

Sue, true but Lambda is associated with the Spartans , they had the capital Λ on their shields (for Lakedaimon the other name for Sparta) Which is why I like it. Sometimes I feel like one of The 300

As a suggestion I think the chain should be ‘broken’ to show breaking the shackles that bind us.

But thank you for doing it, it is appreciated

Ask yourself what is the purpose of this logo?
Is it to create a ‘brand identity’?
Is it to attract readers from across the web?
Is it meant to be upbeat or downbeat?
Is it to give some sort of meaning to some forthcoming campaign?
Is it meant to make the name stick in peoples minds?
Is it meant to symbolise a fight?
Is it meant to symbolise hope?
Is it meant to symbolise freedom?

The use of the shield means defence rather than attack.
The letter which has meaning for some has none for me. Sorry but I just see Adobe not Sparta but then again I might not be the target for this logo.
The chains and handcuffs are very negative as they symbolise slavery. Broken chains mean escaping from slavery but on the whole the chains thing is very negative.
The colour is also very negative. Black is funereal in the west!

I hope you find this my last ever comment on here constructive.
Best of luck to you all in whatever your futures hold.

William, it’s only proposed. Have your vote.

With Pavlov’s Cat – like it but think a break in the chain underlines what we are about.

Damn well done, Sue – you are one talented lass!

For what my opinion is worth, the logo has a lot going for it. One suggestion – wouldn’t liberty be symbolised by broken chains?

I voted for ‘yes, break the chain’ but make it obvious that the chain is being broken. It’s not that easy to see the original chains at the moment ‘cos it’s a bit small on the eye there.

Sorry, don’t know how to help with that. 😉

Lambda… an international symbol of gay rights… with handcuffs… mmmm… nice… so what else do the Orphans of Liberty have in common with massage parlours?

    • May 3, 2011 at 12:17 pm

      That would be telling. 😈
