Gillard’s reality check – first of many?

Now this is really something.  The issue is not, perhaps, all that relevant to the world and maybe the woman was on the right side of the debate for once but the major point is that she came close to having to meet “real people”, the population in all its unwashed magnificence.

Yep, I know it’s stretching it to call radicals like these “real people” but you see the point, of course.  This is what we want for Blair, Osborne, Obama and the like – for them to actually be confronted, face to face, with the consequences of their actions, for their cocoon to spring a leak wide enough for the light to get in, to misquote Leonard Cohen.

When the “leaders” actually have to debate or meet with the people they’re f***ing over, that’s one sweet moment.  One might even be tempted to ask: “How do you like being Prime Minister now?”

You have to fancy Blair’s guards would just have shot ’em

It’s the sort of reality check they need, but sadly it was directed at Abott who made (what seems to me a reasonable) comment about the tent protest but was (as is so often the case)attacked by the professionally aggrieved activist movement as racist.

Yep, it was from the Mad Monk opening his mouth. I didn’t agree with all he said and feel that the Tent Embassy folks should be free to stay as long as they want to even if they’d achieved all their aims, but for me they instantly lost any moral high ground they might have had by screaming ‘racist’ and chucking a massive wobbly. Also anyone who causes me to have even fleeting sympathy for Gingery Dullard annoys me.

Or take them to the slaughter house, they can wait there with the lamb – to misquote Leonard Cohen

    If you’re implying that the politicians DON’T KNOW/REALISE they’re fcuking us over…..
The pols know EXACTLY what they are doing and EXACTLY how we feel about it. It’s the fact that they also know we aren’t prepared to DO anything about it that allows them to get away with it – and this fact they most certainly DO know.

With all snouts now in the same trough, it’s very difficult to know what to do about it.

Demonstrations all too easily turn ugly, therefore losing that there moral high ground.

Then of course, if one manages to buttonhole a leading polotician and put them on the spot, one has to be squeaky clean.

Remember “Joe the Plumber”, or as I prefer to call him, “Joe the TAX FIDDLER who wasn’t really a Plumber at all”?
