Hypocrisy writ large

Politicians in general are a hypocritical lot, the current shenanigans over expenses prove that, what they’d condemn in others and often make laws to prevent is generally ok if they are doing it, or at least easily forgiven. After all how do you explain public subsidised bars in Westminster coupled with the governments desire to see minimum alcohol pricing. Yet even those measures fada away when it comes to this breathtaking display of hypocrisy by Cameron.

DAVID Cameron last night claimed that a fightback was under way against attempts to stamp out Christianity from public life in Britain.
In a swipe at the march of militant secularism, the Prime Minister welcomed the backlash against moves to sideline the Christian faith including banning the wearing of crucifixes and prayers at council meetings.
He said: โ€œThe values of the Bible, the values of Christianity are the values that we need.โ€
His remarks at a Downing Street Easter reception for clergy and Christian MPs were seen as a welcome attack on political correctness and over-zealous support for multiculturalism.

This is the same David Cameron who is attempting to force churches to allow homosexual marriage ceremonies…

On one hand he is claiming a fight back is necessary to restore Christian values to the UK and yet he’s on record as wanting a Christian value to be overturned by the law. Or is he just proposing a pick and mix approach to values? I suspect he doesn’t see the difference in his mind, I rather suspect he doesn’t really know what Christian values are and how they have evolved to fit modern society, yet at root are based upon biblical principles.

He really ought to remember that Christianity is an all or nothing state of affairs, you don’t choose which bits you like, you either are, or you aren’t. You can’t just take the “do not commit murder commandment” yet ignore the “do not commit adultery one.” The church has it’s writings concerning homosexuality and marriage, the two are incompatible, you may not like this, you may think it’s wrong, but those are the rules and you cannot have a Christian fightback whilst ignoring some of the rules.

But I expect Cameron believes he can…
