A costly mistake

I think about the worst thing I’ve ever done with a text message is a spelling mistake. Though I have had some damned good laughs at various spelling mistakes coming through and there’s even a site that posts some of the more hilarious ones too…

I have however never sent a text to the wrong person…

IB Times.

A Saudi woman has been sentenced to eight lashes by a court in Qatif for mistakenly sending a text message allegedly promoting the Shiite branch of Islam.
The 30-year-old woman, identified only as YH, has been pronounced guilty for sending an SMS to another Saudi woman, containing a group of telephone numbers under the name ‘Shiite Islamic religious services’.
One phone number apparently led to Ayatollah Sistani, Iraq’s most senior Shiite cleric who is renowned throughout the Gulf for his learned counsel on Islamic law.
The Saudi Arabian state is a staunch adherent to the Sunni branch of Islam, and publicly disparages the Shia sect. Shia Muslims are not allowed to practice their faith, or even profess their sectarian beliefs in private.
The act of calling people for Shiism, or openly advocating the Shia faith, has been pronounced as haram (forbidden and despicable in Arabic) by the Attorney General, who publicly demanded that YH be severely punished.
The sentence was eventually conferred by judge Davoud Mohammad al-Davoud, who, according to local sources, is an extremist sectarian with a history of harsh judgements.

Always an eye opener to see what the paymaster of so many of our politicians will do when their so called religion is criticised. Remember this is Saudi Arabia which still imports slaves from Africa and who were the mainstay of the slave industry before and after the western nations became involved and finally decided it was too barbaric. Not that you’ll ever hear our ethnic minorities admit such truths, they believe we should apologise for not stamping it out sooner, they always seem to forget that many islamic societies still practice it.

Now do recall, that many muslims want, nay demand that shariah law is introduced to this country. They somehow believe that sending a text giving an alternative viewpoint should be punished by a whipping. They also believe in cutting off the hands of thieves, beheading infidels and hanging gays. there’s even a ruling out there as to how many times a man can hit his wife and how big a stick he can use. (we got rid of the rule of thumb centuries ago) In all, if you’re a woman, you’d think islam was definitely not for you, yet some do convert which shows how degraded our gene pool has become and how some women clearly have no self respect.

Yet this sort of persecution is what’s in store for us if we do not deal firmly with the barbarians in our midst.

The clues are out there.

Yes she should have been given six of the best just for being a Muslim.

Lucky she didn’t get bits of her hacked off for that crime.

What Rot. We still use ‘rule of thumb’ in the sense it always was. Ie: a rough and ready guess by sight. The myth that it referred to a thumb-width stick for beating wives was and is an oft repeated feminist calumny. It is misandry, used to beat men. I am astonished you allude to it here.

I find it very strange that the feminists are saying nothing against this and all the other things in that religion they put women down, I wonder why?

Are there any Muslim feminists? Wouldn’t they risk having their “bits” cut out? 🙄

Whenever western liberals push for greater integration of islam into our society (by which it means muslims keep their ways, while we concede and must adapt to them) they often claim these are people ‘victimised’ by the west. However these same praisers of islamism carefully ignore the fact that virtually all violence against muslims in the world comes from other muslims. Untold numbers of muslims have been killed in the name of their faith by their fellow believers, mostly brutally and indiscriminately killed by bombs and often at their place of worship simply because they pray slightly differently.

For a so-called Religion of Peace, they don’t half dish out some deadly force. A woman being beaten for texting some telephone numbers appears to be harsh but it is part of an entrenched mindset that often despises women and encourages followers to believe violence is the best way to get their god’s love and approval.

It is not a religion of peace, clearly the most astonishing thing about it we in the West put up with it, virgins waiting in heaven a reward for murder, hopefully the virgins will be camels

i’m a Muslim Shiite woman. the things you’ve read about texting punishment is about Saudi Arabia and Wahhabism which is a fundamentalist copy of Islam and the origin of Al Qaeda terrorism and Bahrain massacres against Shiites.
you might like to give pieces of your minds to the Obama admin for allying so dearly the Saudi kingdom, God and you know for what! for exploitation of the oil-rich region, yes.

You have to wonder who is exploiting who? After all, Obama gets the oil and we get Saudi Wahhabism. Either way it’s a very poor bargain.

Are you a Muslim Shiite woman because that’s how your parents brought you up? Have you chosen it yourself? Do you believe in it or is it just a role you have to adopt to be part of the group you were born into?
