Do women want men crashing their Ann Summers parties or the Women’s Institute? And those Women’s Studies meetings at the universities, hidden away in protected rooms – what if men insisted on being present at each and every one of those meetings – and voting?

While the Muirfield members have every right to want to keep their club calm and shrill-free, equally it’s the right of the organizers of the Open to exercise their right to take it away. That’s how freedom of action works.

Fine, so be it. However, it wasn’t left like that, was it? No, McIlroy and other feminists had to weigh in to pressurize the old codgers at Muirfield. It’s not enough for a decision to be made by a club and then they wear whatever happens, no. Richard Craniums like McIlroy have to get out the big stick, a la Jamie Oliver.

I sincerely hope members stick to their guns and dig in, stonewall the coercive bints. For it’s this coercion, not women themselves, which is the issue here. It’s the very act of bullying which is so wrong here. It might have been yoof which insisted on membership or celebs or whoever – it doesn’t matter who the group is – if they’re trying the coercion, they can eff off.

Perhaps in the interest of equality women and men should compete in joint competitions. The R&A (and McIlroy) could put their money where their mouths are and reduce the male competitors in The Open by 50% and make up the rest with top players from the LPG.

Equality Nazis and Health Nazis and FemiNazis.

Society looks down on these poor specimens of human stock and wonders, has time stood still, logic been stood on its head and is, the human race starting to de-evolve and that: progressive actually means a total regression.

Are, the sisters of perpetual perceived wrathful disgruntlement and Socialist frenzy actually: just real knobs?

Bemused – The American lady golfer (whose name escapes me at the moment) who thought the girls should play with the men, was allowed to do so and came off very much the worse. No, I agree with James, if a club wants to be men only – then so be it. If there is a women;s organisation that wants to say no to men – so be it. My only small question is that the women golfers must have somewhere to play their game in order to develop the fine players who grace our television screens. I guess there must be such facilities in order for there to be the abundance of ladies playing the game. Storm in a teacup I would think and not really a place for outrage.

Henry, there are many golf clubs whose full memberships are restricted to men but have associated women’s clubs using the same course. I have no idea if Muirfield fits that model or not. Ultimately Murfield can and should make their on rules without outside interference, political correctness, extortion, intimidation, bad press or feminist chest beating.

something for inward mental digestion – if I may James:

Not anti women, at all – really. But endlessly provoking.

The irony that in their demanding they be allowed in they are trampling over the very basis of the freedom of the men has obviously completely bypased them.

As always with the Left, it is what *they* want that matters and stuff the wants of others.

Good for the men of Muirfield. Their club, their rules.
