We are a seafaring nation

brexit boat

As of this moment, a flotilla of fisherman are moving up the Thames, apparently led by Nige in his jacket and tie [mind boggles] but the cause is deadly serious:

wrecking our ports

We are a seafaring nation and I want my fish ‘n chips! It’s up to us to not remain silent on these matters. Our armed forces and fishermen are the two most important immediate concerns, then manufacturing, then farmers [but their methods need sorting, breaking the cabals].

I have never been able to understand the weak surrender of our fishing industry as a result of our membership of the EU. When I first returned to the UK to retire at the end of 1999 and encountered the reality of our membership, I pursued the fishing problem and spoke to (I thought) some high ranking individuals in the industry. I was very surprised at the matter of fact way in which they had accepted the rulings and accepted the ruin of our fishing fleets.

I heard a well-informed former civil servant state that Edward Heath, desperate to close the deal with France and Germany to enter the bloody Common Market that he threw in British fishing rights as a simple sweetener, then lied about the deal until it was too late.

Yes, there’s always been something iffy about that roll-over acquiescence. I’ve read that too.
