Subverting Democracy…

City Councillor Karen Barford, 47, Labour member for Queen’s Park ward in Brighton, has announced she will not seek re-election in 2019.

She said offensive and threatening messages, phone calls and behaviour by members of the public had contributed to her decision.

Now, normally, I’d say ‘If you can’t handle criticism from the public, you’re in the wrong job!’. But this isn’t just criticism, but something far more sinister, allegedly.

Cllr Barford told The Argus the threats had upset her family and she did not want the specific details published, but said: “It’s been going on for a long time, the first time was shortly after I was elected [in 2015].

“You expect a certain level of abuse but when it becomes personal or affects your safety that’s different.”

The mother of four said she had been threatened by email and over the phone and had been followed home from council meetings.

Police should be involved. Are they? It would seem the identity of the perpetrator is known, since the councillor states that they ‘are not a member of the Labour Party’.

Remember when you wouldn’t need to say that?

This has to be stopped. If individuals are fearful of standing for public office then the way is left open ( no pun intended) for the worst kind of people to fill these positions.

Lefties need to be opposed at every turn, because they are wrong about virtually everything but you don’t get rid of them with violence and threats of violence; that’s their method of choice; you get rid of them by countering their lies and not voting for them.

Don’t the worst sort of people already occupy them anyway?

If Plod know who it is then the action is with them.

Wonder what it is about though. Seems more than meets they eye and too be honest with the way the politicians are subverting democracy I’m surprised there are not more of these going on.

Hard to feel any sympathy for them but the real issue is that the genie is out of the bottle now and there are a lot of nutters around.

It’s Brighton, where nothing should surprise anyone.

Rather than just leaving the Brighton Council seat, perhaps she should leave Brighton and re-join the real world. Leaving the Labour Party too would help that process.

What do you expect from Sodom-on-Sea? Rectitude?

If Plod know they must act. They don’t act and so we have that woman in London saying she doesn’t feel safe any more. Is the perp a jihadi? What’s the story?
