The State: Always A Day Late, And A Dollar Short

A much-loved grandfather’s death was caused by drunken yobs who attacked him and his family, a coroner has ruled.

Frank Milligan was adding the finishing touches to a family-run cafe in Burgess Hill late on a Friday night.

Then a group of louts barged their way in and launched an “unnecessary and unprovoked” attack.

Mr Milligan had intervened to challenge them, but his family said his behaviour changed during the fracas, and almost immediately he was not himself.

The 63-year-old later collapsed at home with a stroke, and died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton just days later.

Two years ago. And the inquest has only just been held?

Three men were originally charged with his manslaughter, but the charge was dropped because prosecutors felt they couldn’t prove that the yobs had caused Mr Milligan’s brain haemorrhage.

This was back in May 2016…and the three yobs were charged with affray instead.

Hewes, of Silver Birches, Haywards Heath, and Garratt, of Allen Road, Haywards Heath were jailed for one year, while Venn, of The Highlands, Cuckfield, got one year in a young offenders institution.

They were out before the inquest was over. Think about that for a minute.

Does that mean there will be an appeal against the killers’ sentences?
Will there be a re-trial? Because that happened in the Stephen Lawrence case, after the Beliar gang changed the law on double jeopardy, didn’t it?

The profile one may deduce of the victim from his name, age, occupation etc. suggests that the authorities will lack the necessary ‘motivation’ to revisit this case, there will be no vociferous pressure-groups pressing for it, Abbott and Lammy won’t get involved. Case closed, move on.

Project Fear – The Maybot Reboot

    From BBC Newsnight yesterday:

“…And there are some Remainers who want in the words of one Theresa May supporting Tory MP said to me this afternoon,
“we want to scare people witless so that people will eventually embrace the Theresa May plan”.
Important to say that is not Matt Hancock…”

Why did BBC add “Important…not Matt Hancock”?
