Almost Lost It, But Nice Recovery, Prof Glees!

West Midlands Police told a judge that he would be helping to combat terrorism if he banned the publication of Inspector Lee Bartram’s address.

Is Insp Bartram a chiseled-jawed anti-terrorist officer, fearful of retaliation from Islamist nutjobs for defusing a bomb with his bare hands?

Well, no. Not exactly.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to making and distributing more than 300 indecent images of children, including videoing a boy of six and blaming his parents for dressing him in an attractive way.

Isn’t it about time someone asked why so many police officers seem to be nonces? Is it an unusual percentage by profession?

Usually, a defendant’s address would be read to the court and published, but the force and his lawyers persuaded the judge that it should be kept secret.

Of course they did. The police never yet found a law they couldn’t subvert to their own advantage.

Experts claim to be shocked, shocked that this might go on….

…Professor Anthony Glees, the director of the Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies at the University of Buckingham said: ‘It is extremely unsettling if West Midlands Police are playing fast and loose with anti terror legislation.

‘Counter terrorism officers would be appalled it was being used in this way, to protect a PC who has been convicted of child pornography crimes.

‘The information we have suggests that this police officer has not been involved in the counter terror police.

‘On the face of it, this brings anti terror legislation into disrepute, and it damages public perception of anti terror legislation, allowing others to rubbish it.’

But then Prof Glees remembers which side he might want his bread buttered in the future, and pulls a very improbable rabbit out of his hat:

He added: ‘For this to fall under the remit of terror, then there has to be some type of specific connection to the people that would go and do this.

‘It is not only Islamic terror that poses a threat, we know that there are a number of right wing extremists who are prepared to resort to violence.

‘If there is a threat against officers in this area, that that too is extremely unsettling.’

Ah, those dastardly ‘right wing terrorists’, who are fighting against…

…errr, paedophile police officers? Hmmm.

“It is extremely unsettling if West Midlands Police are playing fast and loose with anti terror legislation.”

They started doing this the very second that they had some wonderfully vaguely worded anti terror legislation to play with. Anyone with a camera was instantly targeted for being a terrorist or paedophile.

      …or wearing an anti-Blair T-Shirt

Meanwhile Constable Savage was found Not Guilty a couple of weeks ago

Plod cover-ups never end, public trust declines.

      Plod is no longer Police, they’re a Gov’t para-military.

An often incompetent one. For which I suppose we should be thankful…

    Spot on.

Whistleblowers and journalists who do not toe the PC line (see what I did there 🙂 ) will also be called ‘right wing’ or worse… ‘Extreme”. They will be fingered by some plod’s extremities.
