An alternative internet?

Microdave suggests – an “Alternative” internet – or, at least, a separate means of communicating with one another:

I’ve been aware of “Mesh” networks for several years, but there’s a lot of info here, and a stack of links at the end.

Microdave, like all techies, is a man of few words and many links. Thoughts from those in the know and also those of us who are not?

Tim Berners-Lee has an announcement being rolled out through late October. An open source revolution is coming. Google and the Social Media giants will not enjoy the end result.

The basic premise is Tim’s corporation and its ‘app’ Solid, duly registered with the relevant authority, will provide you with third party verification you are who you say you are as soon as you have told the app, as in registered with it, who ‘you’ are.

And this man invented the world wide web apparently.

Interesting! I wonder what the usual suspects will do?
