Ah, The Modern ‘Tory’…

Health chiefs should be ordered to ‘direct resources towards gipsy, Roma and traveller communities who have the worst health outcomes of any ethnic group’, it said.

Said which bonkers Left-wing pressure group?

…a Tory-led committee of MPs said yesterday.

/facepalm

Its 49 sweeping but uncosted recommendations, which would mean spending hundreds of millions, are necessary because gypsies and travellers suffer deeply from discrimination and disadvantage, a report by the MPs said.

Meanwhile, law-abiding and taxpaying citizens suffer deeply from the depredations of gypsies and travellers, but who cares about us?

Mrs Miller was Culture Secretary and women and equalities minister in David Cameron’s government until she was forced to resign following an expenses scandal.

Her committee has previously recommended granting everyone over 16 the right to change sex without consulting a doctor.

Remember Conservatives? I wonder whatever happened to them..?

These ‘Tories’ look as if they’d be happier in the Liberal Democrats so left leaning are their views. The modern ‘conservative’ party does as you say, shout loudly about the rights of ‘Travelers’ but is noticeably silent when it comes to the law abiding people who suffer from the crime and disorder that the Travelers bring.

Surely even the most bovine of Conservative party members realise there must be a complete overhaul of how parliamentary candidates are selected and how Conservatives are selected to sit on committees.

Otherwise the party will continue to sink into irrelevance. And there will be no sorrow felt by me.

John in Cheshire. I completely agree there that Tory Party members need to realise that all is not right with the party. Unfortunately over the last decade or so there has been greater centralisation of candidate selection which is why the party seems to be dominated these days by politically correct types who would not be out of place in the Lib Dems

Has the Conservative party schizophrenia? It bears all the hallmarks. it certainly has a death wish.

Certainly seems like it Mr Gray

Has someone switched party rosettes with screaming Lord such? The Conservatives are clearly the Monster Raving Loony party now.

I always thought the MRLs were actually quite clever – Am I right in remembering that one of their policies was that all MPs should have lessons on how to sit on fences? Seems very appropriate to me.

If this is typical, the current Tories are to the left of the US Democratic party.

I think that it is only fair that the travelling community have the same access to healthcare as everyone else. After all, they pay their taxes too.

  8. April 8, 2019 at 6:38 pm

That’s the first time I’ve seen the term ‘Travelers’ and ‘taxpaying’ in the same sentence. Travelers are supposed to pay council tax when on private sites but I wonder how many actually do? My own experience and that of my family has been that many Traveler vehicles are not even properly taxed or insured.

That was sort of my point.

I gathered that. On the subject of Travelers. Occasionally I’ve met the odd decent Romany one but most of those seem to have been the of the Christian variety.

Conservative PM & most MPs are more bonkers than Yogic Flying party*

Local parties must regain control from CCHQ

    * They lost, but then won as ‘ The Global Warming “Scientists” & Bureaucrats Party ‘

“Following the 1999 death of the party’s founder, Screaming Lord Sutch, the OMRLP held a leadership election with Alan “Howling Laud” Hope (who was then the party’s chairman and deputy leader) and Catmando as the only two candidates.

The vote was a tie, with Hope and Catmando each receiving 125 votes. Hope, as the party chairman, had the deciding vote, and decided that he and Catmando should serve as joint leaders.

As joint leader, Catmando oversaw the greatest electoral performance the OMRLP had seen to date, fielding 15 candidates in the 2001 general election. Catmando served as joint leader until his death as a result of a traffic accident in July 2002. Hope then became the party’s sole leader.

Following Catmando’s death, the party proposed that there should be cat-crossings at all major roads.”

“Gypsies and travellers suffer deeply from discrimination….”.
Is that true, or is it that the general public, I.e. those who are not in politics or law and live in the real world, simply feel revulsion at these lawbreaking ‘protected species’ who know that they can do what they want with impunity.
The most recent case was the mass encampment on a Tesco car park, during which they openly and brazenly, siphoned petrol from a coach full of children, committed theft and assaults, with no action being taken by the authorities.
Could I ask your readers if anyone knows of an occasion where a group of travellers had encamped themselves on a school field, village green, farmer’s field, or any other land, and left it in as good as, or even better than, a condition than it was when they arrived?
They have been trespassing for donkeys years, so I suppose it could have happened. Anyone have any knowledge of such an event?
