The October 17th gamble

If BJ goes to the people on that date, having lost the no-confidence, then he’s planned May’s WA minus backstop all along – the moment he goes back to Brussels, either Corbyn is PM or he is, of a minority govt, possibly vying with the Lib Dems, plus TBP have seats.

If he holds out for no deal and gets over the line on October 31st, with Nov 7th called, then he will win by a landslide.

I think we should pray that Mr Johnson isn’t one of the rats. Or at least suppresses his rat like tendencies until we have left the EU.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, John.

James, we can but wait and see.

So far, I am encouraged by what I see from Boris. But, we have been here before — and, once again, you were proven right with your pronouncements on Mrs May.

I hope to have a new post relatively soon. I had planned to post this weekend. Unfortunately, we have more work going on at the house in a few days’ time, which required more preparations. Those took much longer than anticipated.

BoJo should not have visited Mac&Merk, nor prioritised remove backstop. He should have said “You say your & May’s WA is not negotiable. OK it’s dead “talk goods, capital & services trade; that’s what is important for EU jobs and prosperity”

My worry is – and was under May too – PM BoJo & HoC capitulating if “backstop” removed.

If he does, this relationship is dead:

Johnson and Trump G7 Breakfast meeting

Superb chat by BoJo and Trump, BoJo positioned himself as equal to Trump and Trump accepted. Loved BoJo’s cabotage jibe.

A pleasing difference from Mrs “Negativity” May

Assuming BoJo does not declare unilateral free trade:

“Comprehensive” deal – isn’t that why they takes years and often abandoned?

Wouldn’t it be better to do individual sector/product deals?

    For a laugh: Sky News

Whoosh, cabotage, barriers to entry flew over her head. She flips through notes, picks random project fear assertion and unanswerable “mystc meg” question.

MSM UK are lost in the woods

Don’t trust him, even now, Johnson. Something not right. He’s facing arch-manipulators but then again, he has one of his own there.

Nigel agrees with my opinion @1h 4m*:

Johnson WA without backstop “Satisfactory” @ 22m

    * @1h 4m – USA Trade: BoJo’s Comprehensive year long wrong, do Sector by sector (K.I.S.S.)
