Cats is looking bad – now why would that be?

The atrocious response from audiences and critics toward the feature adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats has no doubt upset execs at Universal and Working Title this weekend.

Universal Notifies Theaters ‘Cats’ Is Being Updated With “Improved Visual Effects” – yhe move is unheard of for a finished film already in release.

Taylor Swift Explains Her ‘Cats’ Transformation: Hissing, Barefoot Crawling and Jellicle School

The critics’ knives have been out for the big budget movie ever since the first, very different, trailer dropped.

And now the film has hit cinema screens the verdict is in.

The overwhelming reaction has been… Cats is the “best worst movie ever made”.

The most jaw-dropping, mind-numbing thing about this satanist’s attempt to inflict an ego piece on the non-Millennial non-navel-gazers is that there are actually people who defend such ‘cultural gems’.

That’s the true horror. Some comments:

# So this movie is basically about a death cult searching for the person they’re going to ritualistically sacrifice?

# The Wicker Cat

# My girlfriend is a wonderful woman. She’s smart, kind, hard working, and gives generously to her community. But she is also one of the approximately 5 people on this planet who are actually excited about this film, and for the life of me I cannot understand why or how someone so seemingly rational could feel that way.

    ‘this satanist’s attempt’.

Is the ‘satanist’ Tom Hooper, the director of the film? Why do you think he’s a ‘satanist’.

Apparently he has had a successful career up till now.

I can never understand the reasons for being a satanist. My major objections:

    1) Satan is less powerful than God.

    2) Because he is evil it’s entirely possible that he will fail to reward his worshippers and throw them into the fires of Hell, despite their allegiance to him.

It makes no sense at all to be a satanist.

    “Because he is evil……”.
If he punishes evil doers, does this not make him a good guy?
According to the Bible, Satan was an angel cast out because he would not comply with God’s wishes. To live in a heaven, or paradise, means that it is perfect and cannot be improved on. To live for eternity (allegedly) in a state of stagnation, without any form of stimulus, doesn’t really seem like a heaven to me, especially if the conditions are subject to the whim of one diety – “Cheese me off, sunshine, and you’re out!”.
Perhaps Satan was cast out because he challenged or questioned?
How many people throughout history have been killed in the name of God, compared to those killed in the name of Satan?
I’m not a Satanist, merely an atheist, but this probably allows me to see both sides. It is said that history is written by the victor. Perhaps Satan, as the defeated one, has been given bad press?

If you actually read the Bible it turns out that God is an incorrigible liar but Satan always tells the truth. The Biblical Satan isn’t evil at all really, he just has a cheeky disrespect for authority. Libertarians would quite like him I would have thought.

Judging by the (admitedly limited) views on Satan expressed above, it would appear that the Prince of Lies is not only named aptly but winning hearts and minds. And Souls.

Bored fartless in an unchanging, perfect Heaven, or roasting in an increasingly crowded Hell. Choose.

It was not the experiences of the subjects in hell I was concentrating on, but rather the alleged evilness of the master of that domain who, if he or it even exists, simply metes out the punishment, a bit like a stern high court judge without the SJW wokeness.
Anyway, what is heaven and what is hell? A good friend of mine suggests that hell is going through the worst moment of your life over and over again. His wife saved him from drowning on a scuba dive, when his tank valve malfunctioned. By sharing the air, they survived. A few years ago, they were mugged in Italy, his wife being stabbed because she didn’t hand over her handbag fast enough. The mugger fled while my friend tried to stem the flow of blood, and performed CPR when his wife lost consciousness. She died before medical help could arrive. His version of hell, which he experiences every day, is the guilt that, when it mattered, his wife saved his life, while, when it mattered, he couldn’t save hers.
As an atheist, I do not believe in the alternates of either sitting on a fluffy white cloud, playing your harp, for eternity, or the dense pit of fire and brimstone. I would think that Heaven is what you try to make on this earth during your lifetime. Hell may well be as my friend suggests, going through the worst moment of your life, over and over, until you die.
I apologise for such a depressing post on what is supposed to be a day of joy, happiness and friendship, and.I sincerely hope your day, and that of the other bloggers, has been a good one.

Humans submit to the vivid imagination of others ,leaving science to play catch-up. Possessed children like Thunberg capture the imagination and are more exciting than rational explanations, using her to solve the climate problem. More natural causes like earths orbit around the Sun and what is happening in the earths interior, these just don’t grab the imagination like supernatural tales humans may be just a gross collection of bacteria and do what bacteria does PARASITIZE to SURVIVE. Just my imagination?? .
