About this site

Who are we?

We are differing voices who come together under one banner – that of liberty.

We are political and apolitical – some belong to parties, some do not. Some are self-professed libertarians, some are small “c” conservatives, some classical liberals – the names are varied. Β  However we all have one thing in common, a love of personal liberty; that casualty of the encroaching state as it seeks to micromanage our lives.

In his first post for this blog, luikkerland states that writing is the the first act of rebellion.

Here, then, is our defiance. Read, engage, enjoy.

Quick word about the name – we were brainstorming names and put this to the then readership, most liked it, but not all. One suggestion had been Herding Cats, and that’s what it’s been like.

Looks good – and if you were to up the contrast between typeface and background (currently pale grey on white) then older readers such as myself might be able to read it more easily!

    Good luck.

Ah! The “Reply” text box has at last appeared – it was not here earlier, which, of course, made it difficult to respond. Thanks for the prompt action on this – this combo of white background and pale typeface seems to be flavour of the many months on blogs. Typeface is small as far as I am concerned, but at least that it easy to deal with.

I worked for a long time with the National Library of the Blind as a customer – they recommend using the W3C standards of accessibility, for presentation and readability. For the severely impaired, screen reading software such as JAWS is used, but for such as I, who wears glasses all the time and is at time stretched by screens, advice for this demographic as well.

More to the point – good luck with the site, I have bookmarked it already.

Jeremy – is it now readable for you?

James, Chuck, is there anything else that we need to do to make the site more accessible for people with vision difficulties? Noting the link Jeremy lists.

Only to up the text by one pixel but it seems to be right for normal eyes and most have the plus minus buttons. If enough come in and say it’s too small, then it can be adjusted, as the colour was.

Most of the more recent browsers and advances in CSS/HTML mean that one can zoom text sizes to personal preferences on most websites simply by choosing + or – on a browser menu item.
Overly small body text on a website is definitely irritating though.

I agree that contrast is a problem on many sites, often seen as red or blue text on a black background, or vice versa. For me black on an off white or grey is pretty legible, so I’m fairly happy with what James has here.

I wish you guys would sort out your Font….It is murder on the eyes…Never heard of Verdana? Any other font, designed for PC use, would be better than currently used….

    • April 30, 2011 at 4:56 pm

I use Verdana on my own site – but then, I wrote the theme, too.

The site is splendid, like a blogging ‘Spiked’, and in fact it’s from its splendidness that springs my only real critisism.

One of the great things about blogs is that people are free to comment. Sometimes the comments develop into a really interesting thread, but that can take a day or two, a long time in the life of a blogpost.

Which brings me to my critisism, if you can call it that: there is just too much good stuff worthy of comment / debate. The comments section never has time to develop (or perhaps I don’t have time to absorb it all) because there are new blogs to read and digest.

    Is it just me? πŸ™‚

The layout is very sleek and easy on the eye. Altogether a well sorted site. Long may it live.

    • May 4, 2011 at 4:26 pm

The answer to this is a forum, like the one I tried briefly on my site. That never took off, but we could try it here if people think it worthwhile.

One suggestion I’d like to make is that it would be much more helpful if there was a proper comments-sorting system, so that commenters would be listed by blog article on the main page. You might want a separate page for this.

Yes, I’d thought about that, but I think even with a forum it is still a bit too fast moving, given the page size. I haven’t actually counted, but I would guess that there’s half a dozen or so posts a (24 hr) day at the mo, which means that after less than two days any given blogpost moves onto page two – and who looks at page two?

Perhaps just making the page longer would help. People might not tend go to page two, but they mostly scroll down to the bottom of the page. If you made the page long enough for, say, three days worth of posts it would give all posts more exposure and time to develop.

Of course, I may be talking out of my arse here , but that’s my feeling. It seems a shame that so many good posts disappear so quickly.

Oh, and the smileys here are a bit difficult to control. When I use one the page seems to reload, leaving me at the top, and the smiley isn’t always where the cursor was when I clicked it. Or maybe it’s just my computer – it’s a few years old now… πŸ™„

I’m still getting crashes on FF when I navigate to this site. It’s only this site that it happens, so the problem’s not this end. I’m not tech minded, so I’ve no idea why it occurs. Just thought I’d let you know.

Yes, as a newcomer the site is excellent and I can see that lovers of freedom will find good material here to read and ponder.

One small point. I agree about the font criticism and it would be helpful to read all comments in a larger type and a clearer font perhaps?

That apart,I look forward to visiting and settling on Orphans.
Thanks for the excellent material, and good to see more vigorous opposition to the EUSSR.

I’m still having issues with the smileys here. Not a matter of vital importance, I know, but a tad annoying nonetheless. If I click on a smiley, the page appears to reload, taking me back to the top, and when I scroll back down to my (potential) comment, the smiley is not usually where I put it (I tend to use them as addenda, often in the middle of a paragraph), and has to be dragged and dropped into place.

    Is it just me? 😯

This vertical, page-following box with the twitter, facebook etc logos has appeared. It obscures the left side of the script. Even when minimised it obscures a third of the page. How can I consign it to the netherworld, never to be seen again?

    • January 20, 2012 at 8:10 pm

Just saw it, at precisely the moment when I have to shut up shop for a day or two. The short answer is to click on the minimize on the thing. the long answer is we’ll remove it if we can’t get it back below again but it will be Sunday now.

It’s all very well Labour councillor Martin Healy refusing to endorse a Tory motion to congratulate Elizabeth Windsor on her Diamond Jubilee. However, I would suggest it would have demonstrated far greater courage on his part had he refused to endorse that government’s programme for the destruction of all things public, upon which the liberty of so many of slender means depends, if he had turned rebel and refused to vote for the cuts!!

Reply To Article About Agenda 21

Conspiracy promoters falsely claim that Agenda 21 is a U.N plan to expand the wilderness into areas already occupied by humans so as drive us out of our rural and suburban homes and into tightly-packed, over-populated “Kill Cities” in furtherance of the planned extinction of mankind. But, none of this is so.

Agenda 21 was merely a suggestion that the United Nations recommended to all its member nations in 1992. Member nations were permitted, but not required to adopt Agenda 21 for themselves.

Under the United States Constitution, both the President and the Senate must consent to a proposed international treaty or convention before it becomes law in the United States. While the President ceremonially signed Agenda 21, the Senate withheld its consent to Agenda 21. As a result, the United States government REJECTED Agenda 21 almost 30 years ago, a fact which conspiracy promoters fraudulently conceal from their followers.

That means Agenda 21 never applied in the United States and does not apply in the United States now. So, whatever Agenda 21 “would have done” if it not been REJECTED is completely irrelevant. It was REJECTED.

Likewise so-called “Agenda 21 Map” is entirely FAKE and had nothing to do with Agenda 21 in the first place. Instead, the fake “Agenda 21 Map” was a wild exaggeration created by Michael Coffman to generate United States Senate opposition to “The U.N. Treaty On Bio-Diversity”, something entirely different from Agenda 21. (This is why the fake map only depicts the United States, rather than all member nations of the United Nations.), As it turned out, the United States Senate also rejected The U.N. Treaty On Bio-Diversity. So, neither Agenda 21 nor The U.N. Treaty On Bio-Diversity (which the fake “Agenda 21 Map” allegedly illustrated) ever applied in the United States. BOTH WERE REJECTED.

The mere fact that some elected local governments have since passed regulations to protect the remaining environment has NOTHING to do with Agenda 21. These elected local governments merely concluded (entirely on their own) that some protection of the environmental made sense.

Deborah Tavares and other conspiracy promoters, claim that the only possible explanation for environmental regulation is to bring about global domination, depopulation, displacement and extinction, etc.). But, this is not so, https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?130336-THE-HOAXES-OF-DEBORAH-TAVARES-(CONSPIRACY-WEAPONIZED-WEATHER-FIRES-and-DEPOPULATION)&p=226019#post226019

Another possible explanation for environmental regulation is mankind’s attempt to protect the environment. At some point, mankind will have to protect some of the remaining life support systems upon which all life on our planet depends. Otherwise, we will go the way of the dinosaur. It’s only a matter of time. Doing nothing about this impending disaster is not an option. That would be completely insane.

The claim that all environmental regulation is a plot to bring about global domination, depopulation, displacement and extinction has all the earmarks of just another LIE from the elite.

I am talking about the real elite, global corporations which profit by destroying the environment, like big oil, big drilling, big fracking, big refinement, big coal mining, big strip mining, big logging, big chemical, big land development, big speculation and the big banks and corporations which serve them The real elite includes international corporations like Exxon / Mobil (Rockefeller), Royal Dutch Shell / BP (Rothschild) and all the other international corporations which profit by destroying the environment.

Historically, when society finally rises up to protect itself from the abuse of the elite, the elite did what they have always done. They lied.

Example: “The rates of lung cancer in smokers is no greater than that of non-smokers.”, “Nicotine is not addictive.”, “Monsanto’s Glyphosate is a safe herbicide not associated with neurological disorders or birth defects.”, “DDT is a safe insecticide for both humans and animals.”, “Monsanto’s GMO’s are safe for humans, animals and for the environment”, “Fracking does not pollute well water and is environmentally safe”, “Cell phones, cell towers, WIFI and 5G do not emit radiation that is harmful to humans.”, etc.

Most recently, when society rose up to protect itself for the real elite’s destruction of our environment, our biosphere and our remaining life support systems, such threatened the real elite, their monopolies, their control over mankind and their profits. So, the real elite did what they have always done. They lied.

Example: “Climate change is a hoax.”, “The Earth is actually cooling””, “Excessive Co2 emissions do not cause climate change”, “Excessive Co2 emissions are actually good for the environment.”

But most importantly, the real elite claimed, “All environmental regulation is a secret plot intended to bring about global domination, depopulation, displacement and extinction”, ironically, the very same things that are certain to occur if all environmental regulations are opposed.

Nothing would better serve the elite’s true agenda to maintain their monopolies and their continued control over mankind than to plant a story intended to result in mankind to joining forces with them in opposing all environmental regulation so as to preserve their monopolies, their continued control over mankind and their profits.

Stated differently, by planting such a story, the elite now actually have mankind doing their dirty work for them, the dirty work of persuading all of the rest of humanity that what is best for the elite is what is best for mankind, something that is exactly opposite to the truth.

The elite are diabolical. They are manipulative. They a cunning. They are calculating. They know exactly what they are doing. They know exactly which buttons to push to result in mankind working for them and working against their own best interests ( a subject I have previously written about).

Despite creating the illusion to the contrary, it is the real elite themselves who actually oppose all environmental regulation, not those of us whose survival would be saved by it.

The truth is that environmental regulation WOULD DESTROY THE CURRENT GLOBAL DOMINATION OF THE REAL ELITE (WHICH ALREADY EXISTS) AND WOULD ACTUALLY PREVENT DEPOPULATION, DISPLACEMENT AND EXTINCTION OF MANKIND, all of which are certain to occur in the absence of environmental regulation.

The claim that all environmental regulation is a secret plot intended to bring about global domination, depopulation, displacement and extinction is a carefully-crafted lie, like all of the others.

This whole thing has all the earmarks of a premeditated double cross!

There is an old saying used when analyzing events, claims and conspiracies, “WHO BENEFITS?”

WHO BENEFITS” from the claim that “All environmental regulation is a secret plot to bring about global domination, depopulation, displacement and extinction?

You and I already know the answer to this question.

    That is my concern. https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?130336-THE-HOAXES-OF-DEBORAH-TAVARES-(CONSPIRACY-WEAPONIZED-WEATHER-FIRES-and-DEPOPULATION)&p=226019#post226019

And, consider this. If I am correct, that makes Deborah Tavares and Rosa Koire “double agents” who pretend to be serving the interests of humanity when they are, in fact, serving the interests of the real elite in duping mankind into opposing all environmental regulation so as to maintain the real elite’s monopolies, their control over mankind and their profits. https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?130336-THE-HOAXES-OF-DEBORAH-TAVARES-(CONSPIRACY-WEAPONIZED-WEATHER-FIRES-and-DEPOPULATION)&p=226019#post226019

What’s more, if Deborah Tavares and Rosa Koire are successful in their efforts to persuade all (or most) of mankind to oppose all environmental regulation, then they will actually help bring about the very depopulation, displacement and extinction they claim to oppose. https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?130336-THE-HOAXES-OF-DEBORAH-TAVARES-(CONSPIRACY-WEAPONIZED-WEATHER-FIRES-and-DEPOPULATION)&p=226019#post226019
